Chris Bolin, Bolin Rental Purchase September 12, 2008
This Rent to Own Video brought to you by APRO's RTOHQ.org

Chris Bolin could likely be the hardest working rent-to-own dealer in the business.

Bolin, who owns two Bolin Rental Purchase stores in Kentucky and Tennessee, serves as both president and vice president of those two state's rental dealer association's respectively.

Last month The Association of Progressive Rental Organizations honored Bolin for his work by naming him the APRO Rent-to-Own Dealer of the Year at the association's annual awards banquet last month.

Bolin was one of 233 rent-to-own dealers who attended the fifth annual Midwest RTO Training Expo this week in Columbus, Ohio, where 31 percent (72) of the total attendance was from Kentucky alone.

In this exclusive APRO video, Bolin describes the importance of the Expo's training emphasis to both himself and his employees, the progressive decision by the Ohio Rental Dealers Association to share revenue from the show with participating state associations and the importance of getting to know your elected officials in an election year.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
