This Rent to Own Audio Podcast brought to you by APRO's RTOHQ.org

David Moore is the Marketing Director for Countryside Rent-To-Own, one of the most active and dynamic rent-to-own companies in the country.

In this exclusive APRO Podcast, Moore, who has previously worked in newspaper and radio advertising before putting in his seven years with Countryside, talks about "aspirational marketing" and how he uses it to promote rent-to-own.

"I am so proud of the fact we have customers who tell us 'I have something in every room of my house from your store. When I come in your store I feel like I am somebody.' That's what makes it great to be in this business."

In this exclusive APRO Podcast, Moore shares how some of his best marketing strategies originated from interviews with his customers.

Educating customers about the rent-to-own transaction itself he said, is still the critical component in all his campaigns.

"Traditional retail customers are often surprised they can bring merchandise back with no questions asked, that's a phrase we've started including in our TV advertising, the fact you can bring something back with no penalty." Moore said. "Rental stores offer a level of service that you can put up with the highest end retail store like Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. Our customers expect this and that's probably what surprised me the most about this industry."

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
