Rent-to-own News - Bestway raises $45,000 for "Sisters for a Cure"

November 11, 2011

Bestway Employees and Customers donate $11,250 to the Sisters For A Cure 3-Day Walk.

Dallas-based Bestway Rent To Own, Sisters For A Cure, Bestway customers and a few generous vendors together raised $45,000 during the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Walk, held the weekend of Nov. 4  through Nov. 6, 2011.

Bestway emloyees and customers raised $11,250 of total proceeds.

2011 marks the seventh year Bestway has participated in the 60 mile 3-Day for the Cure fundraiser. The company's "Team Sisters For A Cure" grew to 17 walkers this year, including four breast cancer survivors.

"Together with the support of loyal Bestway co-workers, customers and vendors, we raised approximately $45,000 to help find a cure," said Beth Durrett, Sisters For A Cure team member and CFO of Bestway. "Our team walked 60 miles in three days for the fighters, the survivors and the taken, with heart, body and soul. I’m honored to work with such dedicated co-workers that support the cause and thank the thousands of Bestway customers that donated to help find a cure, as well as our vendor partners. Together, we make a difference to save lives.”

Benefit Marketing Solutions, High Touch, Heritage Electronics and KTM Enterprises were vendors who donated funds for the event.

Durrett, whose grandmother died of breast cancer, along with Teresa Kraemer, wife of Bestway CEO David Kraemer, started participating in the program seven years ago.  Durrett estimates the Sisters For A Cure team has raised approximately $195,000 for cancer research, treatment and awareness since 2005.

Net proceeds from the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, fund innovative global breast cancer research and local community programs supporting education, screening and treatment.  A Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant has impacted virtually every major advance in the last 28 years.

Bestway Rent To Own has 91 locations in ten states in the Southeast region of the United States.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
