Rent-to-own News - Ashley Furniture HomeStore offers support to Hurricane Irene VictimsHurricane Irene left its mark across the North East and many residents are eager to return their homes to normal.
Despite the warning and advance preparation, many home owners were surprised with the after effects of the hurricane. Jesse Jeramczak, of Ledgewood, New Jersey, awoke to a rescue boat in his front yard and over five feet of water in his basement.
“Our sofa was pinned to the basement ceiling and firemen were going door to door to assist with evacuation,” Jeramczak said. Fortunately, flood insurance covered the structural damage to Jesse’s basement but not furniture, art supplies and other personal items.
“There was no question we would help Jesse replace his furniture," DiMaio said. "Jesse challenged us to help other home owners who are struggling with water damage from the hurricane."
In the past week, DiMaio worked with suppliers to identify products that could be available for immediate delivery and created space at the warehouse to store new furniture for customers who are repairing their homes.
“We created a Flood Relief Program to create our highest discount ever, special financing offers and a layaway option,” Gergar said. “We’ve helped families recover from disasters before, but with this Flood Relief Program, we can help many put their home back together.”

Who Is Your Competition? by Bill Keese In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.
A Review of Online Customer Complaints by Ed Winn III While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
