Rent-to-own News - Premier opens 2011 dealer retreat, announces 2012 convention location

August 21, 2011

The Premier Companies always begins its dealer retreat with a fun and exciting event and this year was no exception.

Friday evening, more than 50 members of the Premier Family boarded a bus for the Mesquite Rodeo.

The group was treated to a Texas style barbecue dinner with all the trimmings from baked beans to barbecue ribs and brisket. The rodeo itself was very exciting especially for those attending their first rodeo. The Premier Dealers were entertained by cowboys on bucking horses, roping of the calves, ending with the popular and thrilling bull riding!

This was a terrific beginning to the next couple days of “Partners in Profitability”. The Premier Companies Dealer Retreat continues through Sunday.

During the company's town hall meeting Saturday John Darden, Premier franchisee/vendor liaison and APRO board member, announced the dates and location of Premier's 2012 Convention -- January 9-11, 2012 Key West, Florida at Casa Marina.

Darden presented a video tour of the resort as well as the unique paradise spots of Key West to the music of Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.

“We’re very excited to be able to take our convention to this popular, tropical escape in Florida”, said Premier CEO Trooper Earle. “We always look for a unique setting as this is a time for our dealers to get together and learn from each other while enjoying the wonderful surroundings.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
