Rent-to-own News - Nationwide Partners with Leading POS Software Providers

May 25, 2011

Nationwide Marketing Group (NMG), parent company to RentDirect Nationwide, America’s largest buying and marketing organization for independent dealers, has partnered with ePass Enterprise, Tyler, STORIS and Reliable Softworks, four of the industry’s leading Point of Sale (POS) software providers to ensure their members have access to the latest technologies to most effectively manage their businesses.

“Finding a reliable POS software provider is an essential part of any retail business,” said Les Kirk, Chief Operating Officer of NMG. “The need to integrate new technologies like smart phones and tablets with POS, dealer web initiatives and consumer financing makes it crucial for our group to partner with the leaders in the POS channel.”

Many independent dealers are now reaping the benefits of a computerized POS system including accurate accounting, better management of service and delivery, less inventory shrinkage, in-depth reports, faster checkouts and the ability to easily collect contact information from their customers.

For over 30 years, ePass Enterprise (rdbusiness.com) has been offering sales and service software for medium to large dealers. According to owner of ePASS, Nick Faiola, their program can provide dealers with a simple base system to a fully automated sales and service environment with integrated finance features.

“We are a forward thinking company that wants to see improvement,” said Faiola. “That’s why our system was purposely written as a Windows application, so it has a unique, yet user friendly feel that is compatible with any PC environment.”

Another leading provider, Tyler (www.tylernet.com), has delivered state-of-the-art point of sale inventory control solutions to the specialty dealer for 30 years. Their focus has always been to help dealers improve bottom-line profits by providing the tools to make better buying and selling decisions.

“We work with single stores to national multi-store chains,” said Rick Albert, National Accounts Manager of Tyler. “A dealer doesn’t have to understand IT to get the full benefits of our system. Our team handles all of the programming, backups and updates so the dealer can focus on running their business.”

STORIS (www.storis.com), is a fully integrated POS and supply chain management solution, that connects all aspects of retail operations in a real time, windows based intuitive platform.

“As a result of STORIS‘ unmatched scalability and multiple software deployment options, we are uniquely capable of servicing members of all sizes,” said Mark Van Winkle, Director of New Business Development for STORIS. “Our clients range in size from one to 5,000 users so they never have to worry about outgrowing us.”

According to Van Winkle, STORIS electronically delivers new features monthly and major revisions annually at no additional charge.

“We invest over 50,000 man-hours in development each year to ensure retailers have the best practices and competitive features to run their business more efficiently and maximize the return on their investment.”

Mike Baron, owner of Reliable Softworks (reliablesoftworks.com), is an independent dealer and member of NMG with over 60 years of retail sales and service experience. In 2006, his team developed and began using Reliable Softworks in their own stores and in 2008 made it publicly available to other dealers.

“Many of our clients are appreciative of how much we understand their business and what they go through every day,” said Baron. “Our POS system is proven to cut costs, increase cash flow, and improve management control.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
