Rent-to-own News - Marketing guru to deliver RTO game-changer

May 19, 2011

Jill McDonough

The results of APRO's recent "Potential Customer" surveys will be compiled into a specialized RTO Marketing Plan provided free to those attending the APRO Convention in Little Rock July 11-14.

The marketing plan, to be compiled by Jill Adams McDonough, founder and principal of Prevail! Strategic Marketing & Communications of Chicago, is a first-class, first-of-its-kind marketing roadmap for the rent to own industry.

McDonough has created award-winning PR and marketing programs and built and managed best-in-class operations at the world’s top advertising and public relations agencies including Leo Burnett USA and Edelman Worldwide.

Her keen ability to access influencers and build teams that work collaboratively and honestly to create integrated, nontraditional public relations programs is what separates Prevail! from other agencies. Jill listens, problem-solves, and promises an uncompromising commitment to excellence in whatever Prevail! undertakes.

McDonough was to hired to formulate a first-of-its-kind marketing study specifically for the rent to own industry. She attended the Ohio Focus Group where she met RTO dealers and observed group discussions.

She will use recorded material and statistical data from all APRO's "Potential Customer" studies over the past two years in the final marketing plan that will give APRO members new insight into today’s RTO marketing environment.

McDonough will present the RTO Marketing Plan at 8 a.m. July 12 during the "Innovation Marketing Session". See all APRO 2011 seminars here.

Register today for APRO's 2011 Convention and take home the most important marketing document in the history of rent to own!

A New Rent-to-Own Experience

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
