Rent-to-own News - ColorTyme's Coelho and Bird team up in Fall River

April 14, 2011

For ColorTyme franchisees Al Coelho and Ray Bird, teaming together to open new stores has been a goal of theirs since they started working together in November of 2008. Today, that promise of becoming partners has been fulfilled with the opening of their rent-to-own store in Fall River, Mass.

ColorTyme is proud to give Fall River consumers another choice in rent-to-own and to show them the hometown difference.

“All stores have similar products and price, but being locally owned allows us the flexibility to better serve the customers,” said Coelho. “We really get to know our customers and understand their wants and needs. To us, they are family; after all, we are your Hometown ColorTyme. Your neighborhood, your store.”

“I’m excited and proud to have Al as my business partner. He is a proven performer with a great record of success,” said Bird, owner of four ColorTyme locations and the 2010 ColorTyme Franchisee of the Year. “As we grow, I’m looking forward to opening more stores with Al and others in our organization who are passionate about the business and want the opportunity to grow.”

A franchised rent-to-own brand since 1981, ColorTyme provides an affordable way for customers to obtain furniture, appliances, electronics and more without the worry and hassle of using credit. The new store is located at 1429 Pleasant St.

“Come on in and see the difference yourself,” said Coelho.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
