Rent-to-own News - Ashley Furniture HomeStores donates $300K to local charities

January 6, 2011

Louisville-based KHF Holdings – A locally owned and operated parent company of four Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Louisville and Indianapolis – took the spirit of giving to new heights in 2010 by generously donating over $300,000 in cash, product and volunteer hours to nearly 80 local charitable organizations.

KHF Holdings partnered with Kosair Children’s Hospital, Catholic Charities, Fort Knox and USO of Indiana Military Services and The YMCA of Greater Louisville to name a few.

“Sharing with your local community is what helps get everyone through tough times,” Caprio said.  “We have been fortunate enough to buck the trends of this troubled economy and made it our mission to give back to those around us.  There are so many worthwhile causes, and it has truly been a dream come true to finally be able to help!”

KHF is a locally owned and operated business which provides insight into the needs of their neighboring communities.

In the month of December, Chris Caprio, CEO of KHF Holdings, reached out to fellow YPO members, Young Presidents Organization- Bluegrass Chapter, for suggestions of local needs and provided nearly to $100,000 of furniture to various organizations.

KHF Holdings has demonstrated great leadership in their community by giving back to those in need.  Caprio continues by stating, “2010 was only the tip of the iceberg.  We realize that we wouldn’t be here without our customers and it is imperative that we continue to do our part in helping those around us.”

The company has big plans for 2011 and has jumped out of the gate setting the bar high with plans to exceed their 2010 contributions.  KHF has partnered with New Hope Services, Inc., a not-for-profit agency concerned for the parents of children with special needs, based in Jeffersonville, IN.

The partnership plans to rehab four New Albany, IN houses to provide to families in need.  KHF is providing 1,000 volunteer hours to the project and is challenging local businesses to lend a helping hand.  Caprio explained, “It is our hope that local businesses will get involved and this to become a community effort.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
