Rent-to-own News - Premier Auto By Rent wraps year with new franchises

December 17, 2010

Wayne Lewis, President of Premier Auto by Rent (PABR) announced this week the opening of a new store in Joplin, Missouri and the anticipated opening of a new store in Rolla in January.

This comes on the heels of exciting news last summer when PABR was named among the top 50 auto dealers in the nation by Auto Dealer Monthly, who ranks independent dealers annually for retail sales volume. PABR is one of five brands of The Premier Companies, which offers franchising opportunities in the lease-to-own automotive, home furnishings and cash services markets.

“We are pleased to have these opened by the first quarter so that dealers can capitalize on the tax return season,” says Lewis. “Our concept continues to gain market share in the sub-prime auto market, verifying to auto customers the benefits of the Rent to Own vs. Buy Here Pay Here. With higher quality vehicles, no upfront sales tax, and a lifetime customer approach in sales, we are becoming recognized as a superior choice not only for the customer but also for franchisee candidates. With the addition of Pay-N-Go service contracts, customers can have peace of mind for only a few dollars a week. We constantly are striving to add quality products and procedures that make the Rent to Own auto experience easy and convenient for the customer and at the same time more profitable for the franchise. For example, we have added physical damage waivers that save the customer the high expense of physical damage insurance.”

Located in Springfield, Missouri, Lewis has been the President/CEO of Premier Auto by Rent since it was established in December 2008. At that time he joined forces with Trooper Earle, President/CEO of The Premier Companies, to combine his proven expertise in rent-to-own used cars with Earle’s franchising experience. Lewis’s 30 years experience in the automotive industry prior to that includes positions as general manager, finance manager, and sales manager in new vehicle dealerships. He owned and operated an automotive consulting agency, consulting with more than thirty dealerships throughout the Midwest.

"Our stores are performing well in sales at a time when the economic picture is questionable for a number of American consumers, and those looking to start a business are discovering the benefits of the Premier structure,” Lewis adds.

The national office of Premier Auto By Rent is located in Springfield, Mo. For more information, contact Wayne Lewis, 417/447-7979. For information on The Premier Companies, call 1-800/2PREMIER and ask for Trooper Earle.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
